To!nk-able Thots

The best and the most wonderful thing in this world cannot be seen or even touched... they must be felt with the heart.

The Bear of Very Little Brain instructs….

August 22, 2006

  • A lot  of my friends are asking me why i love Winnie the Pooh so much.   I keep on telling them…. this bear is different from the cartoon characters that they have known.  He does not only entertain but gives lessons in ways that we oftentimes ignored.  The quotes that I have compiled here will show you Pooh's very innocent and witty disposition in his bear's life.  It's his very good-natured, good-humored, carefee, very loving and very friendly attitude that makes me love him more each day… Sometimes people tend to overlook the very basics of life and treating other people lightly…

Look beyond what is stated… you'll see just how good Pooh's heart is…

"Let's go and see everybody," said Pooh. "Because when you've been walking in the wind for miles, and you suddenly go into somebody's house, and he says, "Hallo, Pooh, you're just in time for a little smackerel of something," and you are, then it's what I call a Friendly Day."

  • Eeyore was very glad to be able to stop thinking for a little, in order to say "How do you do" in a gloomy manner to Pooh. "And how are you?" said Winnie-the-Pooh. Eeyore shook his head from side to side.
"Not very how," he said. "I don't seem to felt at all how for a long time."

  • "Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully. Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever.
    "And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
    There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything."

  • Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh!" he whispered.
    "Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."

  • "How do you do Nothing?" asked Pooh.
"Well, it's when people call out at you just as you're going off to do it, 'What are you going to do, Christopher Robin?' and you say, `Oh, nothing' and then you go and do it. It means just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering."

  •  "Pooh," said Rabbit kindly, "you haven't any brain.""I know," said Pooh humbly.

  • "Thank you, Piglet," said Pooh. "What you have just said will be a Great Help to us, and because of it I could call this place PoohandPiglet Corner if Pooh Corner didn't sound better, which it does, being smaller and more like a corner.  Come along."

  • "Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is
    to be known."

  • "SHARE!" said Rabbit. "Why should I share?" Pooh Scratched his head and thought a bit.
"Because sharing makes you feel good," he replied. "And the more you share with others, The more they'll share with you."

  • Pooh:  "Poetry and hums aren't things which you get, they're things which get you. And all you can do is to go where they can find you."
  • Pooh:  "For I am a Bear of Very Little Brain, and long words bother me."
  • Pooh:  "We will be friends until forever, just you wait and see.."
  • Pooh:  "I wonder what Piglet is doing, I wish I were there to be doing it, too."
  • Pooh:  "Sometimes it's the smallish things that take up the most room in our hearts."
  • Pooh:  "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you."
  • Pooh:  "I'm so rumbly in my tummy.  Time for something sweet."
  • Pooh:  "As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen!"
  • Pooh: "Some people care too much, I think it's called love."

  • "You can't stay in your corner of the forest waiting for people to come to you.  You have to go to them sometimes."

  • "Those who are clever, who have brain never understand anything."

Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh

  • Christopher Robin:  "Pooh, promise you won't forget about me, ever.  Not even when I'm a hundred…"
    Pooh thought for a little..
Pooh:  "How old shall I be then?"
    Christopher Robin:  "Ninety-nine."Pooh nodded.
    Pooh: "I promise."
  •

  • "When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," saig Piglet at last, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?"
"What's for breakfast?" said Pooh.  "What do you say, Piglet?"
"I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?", said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully.  "It's the same thing," he said.

  • Then he began to think of all the things Christopher Robin would want to tell him when he came back from wherever he was going to, and how muddling it would be for a Bear of Very Little Brain to try and get them right in his mind. "So perhaps," he said sadly to himself,

"Christopher Robin won't tell me any more," and he wondered if being a Faithful Knight meant that you just went on being faithful without being told things."

  • Pooh looked at his two paws. He knew that one of them was the right, and he knew that when you had decided which one of them was the right, then the other was the left, but he never could remember how to begin.
  • Piglet:  "Pooh, for a bear of very little brain, you sure are a smart one."
