To!nk-able Thots

The best and the most wonderful thing in this world cannot be seen or even touched... they must be felt with the heart.

When luck strikes on the 27th

September 29, 2006

What's new with September 27, 2006?

I came 30-minutes late in a panel interview in Quezon City.
Luckily, my being tardy didn't affect the status of my job application.
In fact, I got hired!

Beginning this Monday, I will work in an entirely new different setting with an entirely different job and with a much larger serious and delicate responsibility.  I am ready and excited to do that.  I guess, God had prepared me well to undertake this task.

Then in the afternoon, I came to meet, one of my closest friends in Kawals… Iamie Tenio
We found out that her dormitory is just a few steps away from ours.
I had fun with Iamie, talking about past experiences from where we left off.  We attended Mass, and fortunately, the dorm was celebrating the Feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz.  We had free dinner @ the dormitory and likewise, had a pizza nite-out at Yellow Cab.
Takaw namin ng Ice-Cream hehehehe

Much to my delight, I felt very much reunited with someone who shares the same sentiments and discouragements.  Both stood up and learned from our mistakes… and both got the courage to stand firm.
We may be fooled by an unmasked idol… but we managed not to be manipulated.

Long before we were being fooled… We were the ones who got the chance to fool someone … hehehehe

Not just the job, not only the chance, not the free dinner, but I chose to spend that very special moment,
only with my TRUE FRIEND.

I said TRUE.

Reconnecting hearts through texts

I wonder who creates heart-warming messages and being spread out through text.
I envy those who can make one that catches the true emotions of the receiver at the most opportuned time.

Sometimes it will make you breathe deeper and will let you stop and think for awhile.

I thank my friends who sent me these messages….. It really made me smile ;-)

It's better to have nobody than… somebody who is half there..

or doesn't want to be there… or is there and then disappears.

Thoughts on Life:

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times,
during those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
coz they give you a chance to become better.

Benzhingku na si Nene ;-)

September 27, 2006

Last year, Big Brother surprised us all and even a birthday celebrant with a grand debut inside the PBB House in celebration of Nene's 24th birthday.  The PBB Housemates were there to celebrate that great moment with the debutante … hehehe

Everyone was looking good in their formal attire… and Nene, too, wowed us with a lady-like aura in a green gown.  Friends and supporters may not be physically present, but had been one in the celebration.  One in Spirit ;-)

And now, a year after, Nene is celebrating another year of blessings ;-)

This time, not with Big Brother anymore, but with friends and supporters whom she haven't met and may haven't send their personal greetings before…

Though, we may not be physically present again… rest assured that we're one in spirit…

From 09.27.05 to 09.27.06… how will you measure a year in your life?

Measure it in LOVE.

Happy Happy Birthday, Nene! ;-)

The Corporate Tao of Sheggz

September 26, 2006

"Be good to yourself and to others… You will never get empty-handed."

I've been into three companies already.  The Department of Tourism in Manila, Fujitsu Ten Corporation of the Philippines in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and in Fujitsu Philippines, Inc (WeServ) in Makati.  I stayed there for 5 years, 7 months and 5 months respectively.

It's not in the length of stay but on the quality of your stay that matters.   Your chance to get involve with different kind of persons from oldies to yuppies, from complicated to easy-go-lucky….. would give you the best opportunity to build friendships with them.

It's how deep and how true!  It pays well… in ways you, yourself, would be caught unaware…. you'll surely be amazed!

I need to secure employment certificates from my previous employers and it gave me a wonderful feeling that each of these companies, still remember SHEGGZ! SHEREEN! KUMANDER!

Hehehe

Nakakatuwa talaga…. even my surname, they still know.  It makes me smile…

The last time I went to DoT, the guards still know me… one of them told me…

"Mam, hindi ko alam na nagresign ka na dito…
Kaya pala hinahanap kita.. hindi kita makita-kita… akala ko on-travel ka lang…
Wala na tuloy kasama lagi yung kaibigan mo sa EDP.. yung matangkad.."

Hehehehe

That in every visit to these companies, I will surely find a home in each of their hearts.

MABUTI, TAPAT AT LAPAT NA PAKIKISAMA…..  counts pawin!

Ang galing talaga nila Ama Turing at Ina Minting!

Baristang Babae:  "Si Rovs?"
Sheggz                 :  "Ay wala po siya.  Hindi ko nga po alam kung nasaan."
Baristang Babae:  "Ah ganun ba?  O sige, di bale na lang."
Sheggz                 :  "Oks"

Kaninang umaga… muli akong nagising pero this time sa tawag na "Rovs?!? Rovs?!?"

Rovi,

I'm so happy to have known you.

You, too… Take Care!
Make good!

Tnx,

Cherry

KAHIT SAAN KAYO PUMUNTA.. KAHIT KANINONG TAO.. MARANGAL MAN O NAPAGKAITAN NG DANGAL…"

;-)

Pung Sheggz!

September 25, 2006

Finally my friends in Cavite were able to get in touch with Sheggz…

Saturday night, I joined Iset and Athan in a sumptuous dinner at Antonio's Grill where my hunger was satisfied with a bowl of Sinigang na Baboy…..Afterwards, we went to Starbucks.

Iset and Athan are my closest friends in Flores.  Even before, we really take time to go out.  Taking time out to reconnect through our kwentos and memorable moments.

Sunday night, Ronz and Yamie came to visit for a different set of topics.  Yeah, we made fun of our Flores happenings, college enemies and others.  They enjoyed the tofu, goto and mamon!

It feels good to be reunited with good old friends.  You'll never feel a gap in between the lost times you were out of touch.  ;-)

One night, I decided to bring home food for dinner for my brother who usually goes home very late because of his night scheds at Law School.  Thought of buying something that he haven't tried yet, foodtrip. To my surprise, he lost his appetite upon tasting the food.

He told me.. "Ate, pag sobrang gutom ako, wag mo na akong bibilhan ng food na ngayon ko palang matitikman.  Pag hindi ko type ung lasa, hindi ako makakain eh.."

Sad naman… that's why I make it a point that we know each of our own favorites so as not to disappoint each other again.

Going back to Flores

KAPISANANG FLORES DE MAYO is a religious organization geared towards giving honor and glory to Mother Mary. The organization is a Roman Catholic-based group which aims to bind and strengthen faith on our Lord Almighty. Main objectives are skewed towards generosity, reaching-out and a call for betterment of the Roman Catholic faith through worship and intercession to the Virgin Mary.

The idea of coming up with a group of individuals started long before the Spanish came to the country. According to records, 1915 was the year it was initiated. The routine has been absorbed by the townspeople and has become a yearly tradition passing through every generation, thereby the group of Flores de Mayo was conceptualized.

A batch of officers composed of around ten to twelve people are elected annually by the townspeople to unify faith and lead activities geared towards worship and glory to Mother Mary. As such, the KFDM has assumed responsibility for strengthening faith to Mother Mary, and at the same time imbibing leadership, teamwork and ingenuity among the members and the whole Roman Catholic faith in Amadeo. It also aims to foster camaraderie and goodwill in the Catholic community.

This organization and one year of serving has bring us closer to God, Mama Mary, to people and to each other.  Years after, we're still friends and find time to see each other once in a while.  Thanks to Flores de Mayo for such wonderful experience of service and friendship.

The Tao of Dupree

It was actually Matto who first insisted to watch "You, Me and Dupree" last night.  I thought we'll be having a dinner somewhere in Eastwood.  Dupree (her dog's name) is played by Owen Wilson along with Kate Hudson, Matt Dillon and Michael Douglas.

Not that soo excited to watch it, even missed the few scenes of it, i just got my caramel popcorn and sat beside her, as my defense to counter boredom, just in case. I would just like to relax for a while and unwind. No thinking Sheggz… plain Sheggz-free.

Hala!

I had a blast!  First, because the popcorn tasted great and Dupree gave me a number of big laughs! As if I'm watching about a real-life story that resembles that of Matto (as Kate), Arnold (Matt), and Sheggz (Dupree).  Yes… in wide-screen! hehehe

Matto and Arnold, who just got married last December of 2005, play the role of my foster parents here in QC while I was mending the lost me and while I'm looking for a job.  I had my room, cabinet, internet-ready pc… all i need was here ;-)

I've been warmly welcomed (I assume… hahaha) by the couple and with anyone else, even the dogs, in the house.  Sometimes bringing joys to those who are taking life seriously.

Going back, here's the plot (taken from somebody else's website… hehehe).

For newlyweds Carl and Molly Peterson, life can't get any sweeter as they begin anew to settle down into married life. With a nice house and established careers in tow, nothing seems to get in their way. However, Carl is about find out just how much friendship means when Randy Dupree, his best friend has been displaced from his home and fired from his job because of attending their wedding. Taking his friend in, what Carl and Molly are about to experience is that the fine line between a few days and whatever else is after, can be a lot more than they bargained for. Especially when their friend overstays his welcome in far too many ways than he should.

I laughed when I saw this tagline: Two's company. Dupree's a crowd.

Live a carefree, light and sensible as that of Dupree not at the expense of losing your SHEREEN-NESS. Once in a while you just have to be like that to enjoy life's wondrous and simplest blessings.
Do not complicate things if it could be done simply.
Do not waste your cracked brain cells on things that could be treated with just merely smiling at it.

The movie need not to be seen on the intellectual point of view, just see it with your minds and hearts wide-opened and allow the lessons fill in.

Focus on what Dupree is saying… you will learn a lot from this seemingly nonsense and comic guy!  You'll see that beyond his being nonsense…. he makes sense!

Definitely, Dupree is Sheggz counterpart in being TIMANG!  Adding new spice…. On a movie level…

Remember… always get in touch with your "self + ness"…

In my case…. SHEREEN-NESS or could be MATTO-NESS, ROCKO-NESS.

Some of us will live a grand life, some are not…
Some of us will be the future leaders and presidents..
But take into account that there are some who will be contented and fulfilled with just being the "BEST OF THEMSELVES" living a non-complicated, hassle-free, tied-to-one's-obligation… and enjoying the fruits of just being THEMSELVES.

On Finding the Right Job

I've been out of corporate environment for quite sometime.  Missed wearing corporate attire and high-heeled shoes.  Been in and out of companies and had it thrice already.

I posed several questions in mind that I need to answer gradually…. in the passing of time.

After my last employment, I asked God to lead me in ways that I will truly appreciate things and lessons learned derived from it.  If He would want it to make it learned the hard way.  I am very very much willing.

And in several months of looking for a job, been accustomed to pre-employment procedures.  Turned down some offers and went out on my way to look for some corporate fit.

Just this morning, got to find a company I hardly ever heard.  But what made me stick to it is a potential fit!

I enjoyed taking the exams and talking with the HR staff.

In 6 years of being directly involved in Systems Analysis and Design and Development, I would want to venture into something that will not completely depart from the usual line of work but will open new horizons for IT Management and Multimedia Arts.  I applied for Programmer Position, got into exams and interviews, and found out that I am not only considered in such post but more on the Product Development Specialist / Project Engineer post.  Sounds great!

Just had the final interview with the President and waiting for the final verdict on Monday.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this company will lead me to long-been-desired take-off from programming!

That finally the world will welcome me back… in the corporate world in which I choose to left for a while.
