The Power of "We"

I forgot to post a story about the recently concluded event of Gawad Kalinga entitled "The Power of We" held in Mall of Asia.  Several houses are temporarily built for "Open House" hehehe I joined several others, my brothers and sisters in Singles for Christ in Cavite to witness the celebration of modern heroes…. the volunteers, organizers, sponsors, Singles for Christ, Couples for Christ and its ministires and beneficiaries.

No more slums.  No more violence.  No more poverty.

Less for self, more for others, enough for all.

Gawad Kalinga (GK) , translated in English means “to give care,” and it is an alternative solution to the blatant problem of poverty not just in the Philippines but the world. Its approach is integrated, holistic and sustainable – a concrete action plan to rebuild this nation by harnessing the best of the Filipino – our faith and our patriotism.

Gawad Kalinga, an offering of love. The name suggests with fidelity the core spirit which drives the vision of rebuilding a nation by simple caring and sharing.

They have this Gawad Kalinga 777, or GK 777 for short, envisions 700,000 homes in 7,000 communities in 7 years. GK 777 was formally launched in October 4, 2003 and on Oct. 4, 2010, is the date of delivery of individual and collective promises to build 700,000 decent and beautiful houses, 7,000 peaceful and productive communities, 7 years from Oct. 4, 2003. 

Gary V and his kids were there… He actively supports Gawad Kalinga eversince along with Ms. Bernadette Sembrano….

Ang galing ng project na ito… sobrang bilib na bilib ako… Dito ko nakita ang vision na pwedeng mangyari… sa pagtutulungan lang talaga ng mga Pilipino… kayang tulungan ang kapwa Pilipino… Natutuwa akong kahit papaano ay naging bahagi ng pagtulong sa Gawad Kalinga sa maliit na paraang kaya ko….

At patuloy akong susuporta sa GK…

Naalala ko ang sinabi ni Tito Tony Meloto, the brain behind the GK, nagpapasalamat daw siya kay Gary Valenciano dahil may ginawa itong isang bagay sa kanya na higit niyang ikinatuwa… at iyon ay ang ipinagdasal siya…..

While visiting the houses…. I was with Jenny Galang…. I saw this tarpauline…
