Best Obong
November 21, 2006Last Sunday, I shared my plans of getting independent with my Nanang… my plans of really pursuing a new life abroad… of getting involved with the family business and doing the things I love.
I told her… “My mind is set to getting married by the time I am 28… and it is set to getting married with you-know-who. And it will not gonna happen anymore. I may not be allowed for reasons not yet known to me but I know He is preparing something great.”
My Nanang said, this time… give yourself more time to be happy. You’re getting older… but you need to be wiser… if you decide to be single alone, and then be the BEST SINGLE SOUL… if you decide to get married, be the BEST WIFE and MOTHER and DAUGHTER-IN-LAW.
Do you think I can be like that?
I am sure you could be the BEST OBONG. Don’t be overly concerned that you have disappointed other people, your mentors, your friends… do not allow that you disappoint yourself because it’s another story.
I never gave up my dreams… it sits somewhere else.
Even before, I know that I’m different from the girls of my age. My dreams are bigger than me… And only when I saw Pope John Paul II accidentally in Luneta in 1995 waving at me, that I promised to be not just good but to be more than thrice be good.
Do you still want to be a songwriter?
Yes… and I’m working on it, Nanang. I’m writing a song actually… about…
Letting Go of Love.Aba! In-love ka?
Opo. Pero ang title… “Hanggang Dito na Lang”. I’ll go back to what I’m comfortable doing… writing songs and let someone arrange it. But I need to enroll din. I love music more than anything else. Sayang naman kung nakaimbak lang.
