Call Center Experience

Was making rounds of exams, interviews and call simulations at several call center companies in Manila.  Not a total take-off from my field of specialization but somehow a "branching-out" move to assess at potential aspects of career I might be successful at, aside from IT Management.

I was seeing applicants coming in jeans, casual blouse and even spaghetti-strapped blouse.  The lobby has become a mini-park for job hunters.  Examination first, then profile interviews, the small-letter-folded-halfwise giving, the call simulations and the final interview.  Most of these companies are giving similar exams and typing tests.

I dunno if it's proper to conclude that I feel majority just put bearing on communication and typing skills than the other assessment criteria.  I remembered one time, I felt I almost failed the initial exams but successfully passed the typing test… and right after I stood up, my name was called as one of the qualified applicants.  I was asking myself… "did they check my papers?!"

This industry has opened an alternative to apprentice, fresh graduates, middle-aged and professionals taking turn out of their usual jobs… but aside from moulding them into good conversants and customer support specialists… what are the other advantages this industry wishes to extend to the job market?

Is that the end of it all?
