Cooking it up with Sheggz
December 10, 2007I decided to cook for Lolo at the time my Lola is away… I rushed to the nearest grocery store to buy "kernel corn and butter" for a sizzling corn… oh well, I put the butter on the pan and then I opened the can of corn and immediately throw them in the butter. I was like "Whoah! Bakit may cream?" Hahaha
I failed to check that I bought a "Cream-based Corn"… a sizzling corn turned into a corn soup.. yuck!
Don't worry Sheggydi… you still have the lumpiang shanghai. I asked my Lolo… "Ama, gusto mo ba ng lumpiang shanghai?" Yabang ko noh eh iffry ko lang naman yung uwi naming shanghai galing sa fiestahan hehehe…
Put the oil… have it warmed… Ooohhh I remembered one thing about "Paano ba malalaman kung mainit na yung oil…?"
When I was just a kid and too eager to cook… I was instructed by my Lola to wait until the oil is hot enough before I fry in the hotdogs… I was waiting for several minutes… smoke filled the whole pan… so I assumed that the oil is really hot… As to make sure, I dipped in my lil finger into the oil and screamed out loud…. "Naykupo!!! Mainit na yung oil!!!" Hahahaha
So everytime, I'm into it, I just can't help but to laugh… I put the shanghai! I had fun rolling the lumpias until I saw the meat inside… nahubaran na si lumpia tapos fried na yung loob tapos mukhang hilaw yung labas hehehehe…
Kamusta naman yun! Lumpia na lang palpak pa… Okay lang yun! May sinaing pa… Ininit ko lang naman si kanin…. and turned to my pc… I heard my Lola's footsteps… I rushed again to turned off the stove… nangangamoy sunog hehehe
"Dinner is ready!!"
My Lolo was laughing when he saw that … a fake sizzling corn, sunog na hubad na lumpia and mejo tutong na kanin… hehehehe
"Nag-effort ako, Ama.. kelangan na nating bumili ng bagong stove… hindi marunong magluto yung stove!"
Then he said, "Malamang bumili na rin ako ng bagong frying pan… dahil hindi marunong tumantya kung sunog na ba ung niluluto o hilaw!"
And then our house had been filled with big laughs and more big laughs! Hahahaha

Verb Tenses
Caller: Naglalaba
DJ: Eh ang future tense ng "laba"?
Caller: Magsasampay!
Weh! Di ba … may ganon!
Touched by the meal
Bonding muna
December 6, 2007For my brother, he thinks that I am a worst dresser. For I dress for the sake of wearing something and not doing something to dress up!
Just last night, he brought me to a a cheaper corner of Powerplant for me to feel (daw) that I should doubly change the fashion sense that I have (if there is.. hehehe)
We visited several stalls. He is still the usual bro that I know, very picky on polo shirts. We toured around to find some new picks.
Oh well, that's not the meat of my blog hahaha
On our way home while he was busy driving, he shared his sentiments about his "dream girl" and the risky thing about courting her… blah blah blah… and he ends up saying…
"I can always court her and I know with sincerity and true intentions, I can definitely win her heart… but right now, since it's costly to court her… I intend to save something and enjoy the fruits of my labor for now…. blah blah blah!"
And I was touched when he said this…
"Pamilya muna, Ate. Gusto ko yung bonding-bonding naman tayo."
I tend to be quiet for how many minutes because I share the same dreams, too. We were too busy fulfilling the dreams we want for ourselves… being overly caught up with work to earn [not save hehehe] and we missed the golden opportunity to enjoy life with my family. And that physiological need must be fulfilled, because I feel it will do good for your "inner" self…
Treat your life with the best things with them…
The Best Smile I know
If I thought that a smile of mine, might linger the whole day through and lighten some heart with a heavier part, I'd not withhold it — Would you?
- AnonymousEveryone who knows me by heart can instantly agree that my smile is one of my valuable daily wearables wherever I go. I was looking at my old pictures, even those that I wasn't wearing anything at all because I was just a baby then, that cheerful smile has always been my trademark. Unconsciously, it makes the other person who receives it feel at home with your presence. That's the realization that went through my mind after long years of doing that smiling exercise.
Sometimes your smile means a world to others without you knowing it. It sets everything straight.
My most unforgettable experience is when I smile and no one sees it. It's the deepest seat of your emotions that makes you smile sincerely. When you're happy about yourself and how things are going, a smile is a gift you give yourself. A gift for all the struggles you've won over and all the trying times you made yourself undefeated.
Don't smile when you don't feel like smiling… Smile when you think it is necessary and when you feel good about yourself…. You share the radiance with the world… It's as if you're telling the universe…
"May my happy disposition be with you always!

The Song
December 4, 2007"God gave us two ends - one to sit on and one to think with. Success depends on which one you use. Heads you win, tails you lose."
While taking a break at playing keyboards on the wedding, a stranger came to me and said… "You do well in keyboards. I saw you differently while doing that."
I just smiled.
"Had it not for Emz, I wouldn't play. I stopped playing keyboards for it makes me sad…. for the things I have not accomplished in music. This is what I love doing. It's just that along the way I intend to pull it out from my senses only to think that I'll be coming back here… at the keys…"
While having that very casual conversation, I was playing something… then I realized, I wasn't playing what I supposed to play… instead… I was making melodies of a very familiar song to me… my wedding song hehehe
She continued… "You know what, I admire those who had the opportunity early on do what they want and their parents are supportive of them. Never stop loving what you're doing… It brings pleasure…"
"Yes… It makes you one in the world!" hehehe
Maundy Monday
December 3, 2007I hate Mondays! It feels like a Maundy Monday for me eversince I started out schooling. It cuts the joys of weekends. I bring it along until now that I've been working for years. Usually I find myself "late" or "absent" on this day and tend to become normal again on Tuesdays to Fridays…
Life starts every Monday at work. The bulk of "to do's" all starts here. Mondays dictate and make you stress until endweek.
Oohh I love Fridays! Not because of the late-night gimmicks but most especially because it brings me the luxury to sleep and wake up at any time I want.
Perfume and Tea
I was puzzled at how my dreams and signs seemed to affect me nowadays… so weird…
Around midnight [last night], I fell asleep… and saw in my dreams.. a Clinique Happy for Men perfume given to me as a gift… it was placed in a used paper bag.. I saw my name and the sender's name… I know the name very well.. it came from a girl… I read the message but I can no longer remember it fully the moment I woke up… only these…
Dear Sheggz cool!
[Message]
[Sender's Name] so true!
When I looked at the bottom part of the paper bag… it contains a message also… from a girl who happens to be a close friend of the sender… that's why I assumed that paper bag is recycled [hehehe]
I don't see anyone in that dream but I know I was there… I saw myself stirring a hot tea… and put it in the perfume..
What the hell is this?!?
Missed Call
Majority of us are disenchanted with how the present administration is governing us and I admire those who are brave enough to go out in the open and let their voices be heard. But I was disappointed at how Sen. Trillanes and the team had it last Thursday. Why?!
There was Oakwood Mutiny.. now it's Manila Peninsula… what's next? Do you think you can convince the majority of Filipinos knowing that the predecessors cannot make a sound judgement nor can't even stand on their will?
Everyone's so eager to oust GMA but has anyone offered a better alternative? Oust Gloria and form a new government… of whom?
If anyone succeed at removing her from office then who will lead us… the next in line? How sure are we that he or she won't be a copycat?
If people see something viable and worth fighting for… even if you don't plead, they will respond to that call…
even without you calling them…. God Bless the Philippines!!!
